Notes for PERMELIA CHARLES: Permelia's obituary read as follows: (mistakes included). PARMELIA CHARLES ARNDT

    Permelia Charles, daughter of Daniel and Mary Charles, was born near Liverpool, Perry county, Pennsylvania, February 7, 1840, and died at Alva, Oklahoma Monday evening, March 5, 1928, being at the time of her death 88 years and 1 month old.
    She was united in marriage to Valentine Arndt at Liverpool, Penn., on March 6, 1862. Seven children were born to this union, five boys and two girls, one son dying in infancy. Those surviving are: Mrs. H. L. Derr, Harrisburg, Penn.; S. T. Arndt, New Buffalo, Penn.; R. P. Arndt and D. D. Arndt of near Alva; J. F. Arndt, of Walsh, Colo., and Mrs. I. T. Strickland of Alva; one sister, Mrs. Kate Beigh of Harrisburg, Penn. All the children except the first two named were here at the time of her death.
    At an early age Mrs. Arndt gave her life to Christ and lived a consistant christian life. She joined the U. B. church at an early age and at the time of her death was a member of the church of that denomination at Alva.
    Grandma Arndt was a widow of a Civil War veteran and a member of the G.A.R. Circle. The family came west to Nebraska in 1892 and to Oklahoma in 1894. In 1897 they moved to Alva, where they resided until the time of their demise.
    Grandma Arndt, as she was known to many of her friends, was loved for her many deeds of kindness and cheerful disposition, always looking on the bright side of life. During her last sickness she prayed, "Jesus, Sweet Jesus, make me well or take me quick don't let me suffer long." She was a faithful wife and loving mother. She leaves to mourn her death, besides the children, a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, relatives and many friends.
                   Mother, dearest, how we miss you,
                   That smile of cheer we miss that, too;
                   But we know you are in heaven.
                   And we're going to meet you there.
    Card of thanks: We wish to thank all who so kindly assisted us in any way during the sickness and death of our dear mother; for the beautiful flowers, the songs of hope and words of sympathy.

- Liverpool Sun- 06-02-1889 - One evening recently as one of Mrs. Valentine Arndt's clucks would not go into her coop Mrs. Arndt went to look what was the matter. When she looked into the coop she thought she saw a stone, and was about to reach in with her hand to get it out, but then she noticed it moving. It turned out to be a large copperhead snake. Her son killed it.
