På CD Emigranten finns en uppgift om Per Johnsson, 21 år, som 1884-04-03 utreste från Malmö med destination St Paul Mn.

Den 22 juli 1884 anländer Per Johnsson och Nils Andersson (Karnas bror) med fartyget

Furnessia till New York. De har då farit via Glasgow Scotland och Movile Irland.

På sajten Ancestry.com finns en notering att de två anländer med fartyget till New York den 22 april.

Per återvände hem och reste sedan ut från Malmö 1891-03-26 tillsammans med Karna Andersdotter. Källkod 1891:841:6423 visar att de reste ut tillsammans med dest. Minneapolis

I Hallock, Kittson Co, MN bor 1900 en Pet Johnson med hustru Carrie. Han har immigrerat 1884 och anges som född oktober 1861 (stämmer inte riktigt) och hon 1890 och född aug 1869. De har varit gifta i 9 år och har fyra barn i livet: Albin 8, Arthur 5, Emminia 3 och Victoria 1.

1910 finns Pete Johnson i Kittson Co, men i Cannon där han är farmer. Han är gift med Hanna, 28 år sedan 6 år. De äldsta barnen stämmer med familjen år 1900 och äldste sonen Albin är 18 år så Hanna kan knappt vara modern. Det finns också 4 gemensamma barn. Äldsta gemensamma dottern heter Carrie.

1920 bor de kvar och sammanlagt 12 barn finns hemma. 1930 finns bara Pete, hustrun tydligen död. 2 nya barn har tillkommit under 20-talet, de äldsta har flyttat.

In the year 1873 John Olsson and his family were on their way to Christmas Eve services (?) at Maglehem, Sweden (Dec 31 1873 at Olserod say church record). On the way they had a run-away, which caused John's death a short time later, leaving his wife at the age of 36, with 5 young children to care for. Pete, the second son was 11 years old when this unfortunate accident happened.

Thus, the story begins of Pete Johnson (John's son) as they were called in Sweden. He was born in Kristionstad, Skane, Sweden, October 30,1862.

Per Swedish emigrant code 1884:337:345 on the 3rd of April, 1884, At age of 21, Pete left Malmo, Sweden on the Furnessia in the company of Nils Andersson, the brother of his future wife Karin Andersson, and sailed for the US arriving in NY on 22 April 1884. Pete he came to America with dreams of a better life than Sweden had to offer. Pete came to New York, made his way to southern part of Minnesota where he spent a short time, then came to Kittson county where he spent the remainder of his life---living to the age of 91 years and 3 months.

Pete did various kinds of work after coming to America. He spoke of working at the Early Day Fort Farm, which was managed by Captain Danielson, an early pioneer of Kittson county.

After a few years he homesteaded land of his own west of Hallock in what is now North River Township. He proved up his claim, sold it and returned to Sweden where he met and married his first wife, Karin Anderson and came back to Kittson County to live. To this union four children were born. Albin, Arthur, Minnie and Victoria. His wife Karin passed away in 1903.

He later married Hanna Spork (1903) who was also born in Sweden. They had a family of 11 children; Carrie, Harry, Emmy, Henry, Elmer, Ruth, Alex, Willard, Ralph, Roy and Elsa. The mother Hannah Dorothea passed away on September 27, 1929 at the age of 47 years and 7 months.

For a period of time he worked in the Hallock Roller Mills which were operated by WM. Kelso. This flour mill operated on a 24 hour basis and Pete was the foreman--the place was operated by steam.

Later he bought a restaurant in Hallock, it is believed he bought it from a man named Gulhranson. He operated this for several years, then disposed of it, selling it to Swan Strand.

For a time he operated a meat market in Badger, MN. Later he came back to Hallock and bought the Burris farm, along with his brother Ole and sister, Mrs. Hannah Pearson (the former Sheriff Oscar Pearson's mother), located just east of Hallock. After this was sold he worked in the Robertson Lumber yard in Hallock for a few years, then managed by Palatier. Shortly he went to Northcote and operated a yard there for the same concern. He then returned to Hallock and operated the South Elevator which at the time was a line house.

About this time Hallock had a gas plant which lighted the town's streets and some homes. Pete was the second manager of this plant.

Resigning this position he traded his home in Hallock for a farm in Cannon Township where he farmed for many years. His son Elmer continued to farm the home place untill 1988.

When he retired Pete moved back to Hallock where he spent his remaining years in good health. He was a jovial man, interested in that he did much reading despite not having much education, except attending the common school in Sweden.

Pete was also a charter member of the Hallock fire dept. and he was Deputy Sheriff during the administration of the Oscar Youngren, who was the first Sheriff of Kittson County.
