Peter Babb, elder son of Thomas and Bathsheba Babb, was born in New Castle County, DE around 1695. He and two of his brothers moved just across the state line to Chester County, PA. Philip was a Quaker and he moved his membership from the Newark Monthly Meeting to the Concord Monthly Meeting when he moved to Chester County around 1725.

He was married on December 11, 1728, at Cain Chester County, PA to Mary Lewis, daughter of Evan Lewis. She was a descendent of Henry Lewis who immigrated with his family from Narbeth, Pembrokeshire, South Wales in 1682.

Peter received a grant of 400 acres in West Cain Township, Chester County from the Penns for which he to initially pay 15 pounds, 10 shillings per hundred acres plus a yearly rental of 1/2 penny Sterling per acre.

Philip was willed his father's homestead in Delaware and he, in turn, gave it to his son, Thomas, who had married and moved back to DE.

Philip's will was proved October 27, 1773 in Chester County, PA.
