Biography

Peter Brown was born about 1632, possibly in Duxbury, Massachusetts. He moved to Windsor, Connecticut before 1658, when he married Mary Gillette on July 15. He was admitted to the church in Windsor in 1662. Peter and Mary had twelve children, all born in Windsor.

Peter Brown's will was dated on August 17, 1689. In it, he mentions his wife Mary, his four sons; Peter, John, Jonathan & Cornelius, and six of his eight daughters; Mary, Hepsibah, Esther, Isabell, Daborah & Sarah. The two married daughters are not named. Peter died on March 9, 1692 in Windsor and the will was proved on April 13, 1692. Mary lived until 1719. Peter is buried in the Palisado Cemetery in Windsor.

Family

Nothing is known about the father of this Peter Brown (Brown-2097). Hinman indicates that by "tradition" he was the son of a different Peter Brown, the more notable passenger on the Mayflower in 1620. He proceeds to cast doubt with his further analysis.[1] Other well known sources for this Mayflower passenger do not mention a son Peter. His father would therefore seem to be a different Peter Brown or a Brown with a unknown first name. He died in 1692 at the age of 60.[2]

Marriage and Children

Peter Brown's will was dated on August 17, 1689.
