About Peter Nodine, Jr
Peter Nodine born 1744 died 1815 Married Sarah Hopson, Jan 19, 1766 at the First and Second Presbyterian Church in NYC. Sarah died in 1829. This Peter Nodine was the one that bought the top of the old Phillips- bourgh property and settlement in Yonkers, NY on the Hudson River north of New York City. The hill was the highest point on the river. Much is written about it's history because of the look out points and stations used by the Indians and during the wars of 1776 and 1812. Even today, the water tower serving the City of Yonkers and surround- ing area is on the top of the hill.
This is were Peter and his wife, Sarah reared their children. There is much written in the early history of Yonkers about Peter Nodine, Nodine Hill, and his family. Many of the Nodines are buried in the old section of the St. John's Cemetery of St. John's Peresbyterian Church at the bottom of the hill in Yonkers, NY. The Nodines of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas are descendants of this Peter Nodine and Sarah Hopson.
