Peter Presley, his wife, 3 daughters and 1 son are recorded in the 1800 census, Anson Co., NC. [1] Peter Presley wrote his will 23 Mar 1824, Anson Co., NC. The will was recorded Jul 1829. [2] The only child mentioned in his will is his son, Valentine. This Peter Presley lived his entire adult life in Anson Co., NC and is not the Peter Presley found in Mecklenburg Co. or Buncombe Co., NC.

Peter Presley, Sr., 1756-1835, of Rowan co NC; Soldier of the American Revolution from Mecklenburg co North Carolina during the war. Both he and his older brother, Andrew Presley, b. 1754, served in the Rev War in NC. In November 1780, Peter Presley of Mecklenburg co NC also provided 10 bushels of oats to the State of NC for public use. Peter and his second wife, Sarah Presley, b. 1770, and their family remained in Mecklenburg co NC after the war, they're enumerated on the 1800 census of Mecklenburg co NC. Their son, Peter Presley Jr was born on 8 July 1807, around the time of their move to Buncombe co NC where Andrew Presley, older brother of Peter Presley Sr, had been living since before 1800. Peter and Sarah Presley Sr are enumerated on the 1810 census of Buncombe co NC. They soon moved to Hall County, Georgia (Gainesville, GA) circa 1815. They're enumerated on the 1820 census of Hall co GA.
Peter Presley Sr., (rev sol) was a fortunate drawer from Hall County, GA on the March 1827 GA land lottery (Ga historic newspapers). Peter Presley, Sr. of Hall co GA disappears from GA records about 1828, and he apparently never applied for a Rev War pension. His death date, 9 January 1835, comes from the Peter Presley Jr family bible record (see memories). After abandoning his family about 1828, Peter Presley Sr., 1756-1835, moved to Marion co TN. His older brother, Andrew Presley, had been living in Claiborne co TN for a number of years (the two TN counties are 200 miles apart, but Andrew may have owned land in/near Marion co TN). Andrew Presley made his Rev War pension application (file S21434) in March 1833 at age 80, Claiborne co TN.

Peter Presley Sr.'s son, Peter Presley, Jr., b. 8 July 1807 in NC, a newlywed in 1830, is found on the 1830 census of Habersham County, Georgia with his elderly mother, Sarah Presley, age 60, in the household. Peter Presley Jr is found next on the 1840 census of Hall County, Georgia with wife Nancy and family, but without his elderly widowed mother in the household. Widow Sarah Presley remained in Habersham county GA with other family members until her death in 1855 (find-a-grave).
