Peter Putman

Peter was born and raised in Somerset County, PA where he met and married his first wife, Margaret Adams, and they moved together to Stark County, Ohio. After Margaret's death in 1844. He then moved to Van Wert County, where he met who was to become his second wife, Sarah (Neiford) Whitmore on March 26, 1853. *All together, Peter had eighteen children. The first eleven by Margaret

and the next eight by Sarah.

• In listing the children of Peter and Sarah, there is a descrepency between the biographical notes and the actual number of children; which comes to thirteen total for Sarah and Peter; twenty children all together. There is, however a five year delay between the eleventh child, William Clark Putman and the next child, Clara B. It may be possible that there was a third wife we do not know of.

Ohio. He moved to Van Wert County, Ohio in about 1840 where he remarried. There were eighteen children, seven by Margaret and eleven by Sarah.
