Peter Baron von der Osten-Sacken

Peter Baron v.d. Osten-Sacken was born in 1909 in Jelgava, Latvia. He attended the German Gymnasium and studied after graduating from the University of Latvia in Riga, mathematics, physics, astronomy. In 1939, he was resettled as a German-Balt realm and received his Ph.D. Dr. phil. in Berlin. After the war he taught at high schools and Lübeck took over the leadership of Lübeck astronomer observatory. He dealt with the galaxy and was appointed research professor in 1989. Several books have been published mainly astronomical content of it.
