During the Boer War he was captured by the British near Thaba Nchu on 7th October, 1900. As Pieter Johannes Adendorff he was POW number 12841 he was aged 20, from the Rouxville district and sent to Diyatalawa camp in Ceylon, aboard the SS CATALONIA.
NAAIRS have document relating to him taking the Smithfield Council to court for not allowing him to build on a piece of land he owned in the village.
