Johnston, Box 893, Eastland, Texas 76448 Telephone 817-629-1663 Letter: Manuel History: "Phillip" Manuel is first documented in 1850, Lawrence County, Tn. census. He is married to his second wife "Sarah Malissa Black. (Her mother was a White) Their first baby "James Lafayette" (Fate) is 2 mos. old. "note" James Lafayette was grandfather to Helen Stevens. "Phillip" five children from his first wife, "Sarah Fondren" are in his household. ages 14-to 4. The four year old is "Jesse P. Manuel" Sarah Malissa Black" Manuel raised these children. Family records show the birth a child in Fair Play, MO. They attended Barren Creek Presbyterian Chruch and buried there in Barren Creek Cemetery by the church. It is still in use in 1998 and in good condition. The Manuels got mail at both Bolivar and Fair Play. Tom Stevens knows the location of Phillip Manuels land..I believe it is on the road between the two towns.
