... "Peter Brown, who came to Plymouth in the Mayflower, in 1620. The latter had no family in 1620; in the division of lands at Salem in 1623, he had one acre of land assigned him, and had neither wife or children; but in 1627, in the division of cattle, his name with that of Martha and Mary Brown, was named, each one share in the lot. Parentage

Phebe's parentage is unknown. There is no reason to believe that she was the daughter of John Harding who, according to Wilbur H. Harding's 1925 Hardings in America, died in Northampton, England in 1637. There is no evidence that that John Harding had a daughter named Phebe. In addition, as described in John Harding's profile, there is no reliable evidence that any of his children emigrated to New England, and Wilbur J. Harding's claims to the contrary appear to have been speculative fabrications.

Date and Place of Birth

Phebe's date and place of birth are uncertain. Based on her date of marriage, she was probably born sometime in 1608-1616, with about 1612 being a reasonable midpoint estimate. Based on her date of birth, she was almost certainly born somewhere in England.

Marriage

Phebe married John Browne on March 26, 1634.[1][2][3][4]

Children

Phebe and John had the following child:

Remember, b. about 1648 in Duxbury, m. about 1668 Josiah Wormall[2][5]
There is no evidence that Phebe and John had any other children.[2][5] However, they were guardian's for Priscilla Brown, the daughter of John's brother Peter Brown, for several years before her marriage.[5]

Death

Phebe's date and place of death are uncertain. Since she is mentioned as a living person in her husband's will dated April 15, 1672,[2] she died sometime after that date, most likely in Duxbury.
