About Pheletia White Cash (Taylor)
Pheletia White Taylor born in 1819 was the only daughter born to John Taylor and Elizabeth White Taylor. According to family records she was nick named Jane. Pheletia married Reuben Cash February 6, 1836 in Elbert County, GA where they lived until moving with their 11 children to Smith Township, Bradley County (now Cleveland), AR around 1858. After the start of the Civil War, Pheletia and Reuben had their 12th child Louisa Rebecca while living in the area of Mt. Elba/Toledo.
In 1861, daughter's Mary Francis, Virginia Ann, and Pheletia Jane all married in the home of their parents. Shortly after in 1862 their oldest son John S. joined the confederacy and was killed during the war. Pheletia and Reuben continued to live near Mt.Elba/Toledo after the war where they served as members of the Zion Baptist Church. In 1870, census records indicate that Pheletia and Reuben, along with daughters Nancy Elizabeth and Sarah had moved and were living north of Warren near the Saline River. By 1880, census records indicate they were again living near Mt. Elba/Toledo with daughters Nancy Elizabeth and Louisa Rebecca living with them. Shortly thereafter, Reuben died on December 8, 1880 at age 66. More than likely Pheletia would have lived with family members until her death in 1900. The last information of her is provided in the obituary of her son James Wesley Cash who died in 1898.
