In March of 1883, Philip applied in the District Court of Bastrop County for U. S. passport as a naturalized citizen of the USA. He was described as 6' 1", tall with a round face, brown eyes and auburn hair.

Married Dora Blumenthal February 10, 1884 in Bastrop County, Texas.

The 1900 census found the family living in Elgin with 6 children: Rosa, Martha, Jennie, Lea, David, and Mollie. In 1910, there were 5 children reported in the home: Mollie, Jennie, Leah, David, and Harry. Philip was reported to be a merchant.
