Left Germany with wife and 5 children on June 22, 1728 on the ship ALBANY, sailing from Rotterdam(Capt.Lazarus Oxham) to Philadelphia, landing on September 4, 1728, where he took the Oath of Allegiance.. First wife died before the end of the year(1729). Initially settled in Lancaster county. Received 175 acres in Manheim Twp, York County, PA in 1753 and purchased an additional 220 acres in April, 1761, having moved there in 1754. "Frederick Eyckelberger" taxed in Mannheim Twp., York Co. in 1762. In 1770, moved to Hanover(town), York Co. where he died. His will (Hanover, York Co., PA) mentions "daughter Elizabeth Smyser". Offices(Mannheim Twp.)- Constable(1757). Also, a Tavern Owner, mentioned in Gibson's "History of York Co., PA".YCHT document #17211 states "To the Worshipful his Majesties Justicesof the Peace for the County of York in open Court of General QuarterSessions of the Peace met at York the last Tuesday of July, 1760. ThePetition of Frederick Eychelberger of Manheim Township humbly Sheweth.That your Petr. has for sometime past kept a publick House & hopes hehas behav'd to the Satisfaction of those who have has occasion to frequent his House. Your Petr. therefore Prays yr. Worships Recommendation to his honour the Governor for a Tavern Lycense. And yr. Petr. willPray. Frederick Eychelberger".

These establish the fact that Philip Frederick Eichelberger, Son or John and Maria Barbara, was born April 17. 1693. in Ittlingen,. near Sinsheim, then in the Grand Duchy of Baden, now in the Empire of Germany. That he was married. November 11, 1714, to Anna Barbara Dorners. Also, the fact that four little ones were born to them. In those early days it is likely that one who wished to emigrate to foreign countries, especially one who like the subject of our sketch was of the backbone and sinews of the nation, one of the working people, was obliged to procure from the authorities some sort of a passport. Every one of the descendants of Philip Frederick Eichelberger may well feel proud of that high re¬gard and respect which the authorities of Ittlingen express in the following testimonial, the original of which is now in possession of a great-great-grandson, Edward S. Eichelberger, living in Frederick City, Maryland:

Know ye, that the bearer of this, Frederick Eicbelberger. a resident citizen of the village of littIttlingen. near Sinsheim. said viillage belonging to the High and Free Baronial Corporation of Benning and Geikish, and absolutely Incorporated with the Free State Baronial Domains in Suabia Canton Cirgiehagen, has humaily made the foIlowing aannouncement to the authorities of the High and Free Baronial Domain of Benning:

Is order to improve his condition and iincrease his means of subsistence, he is determined, together with his wife and 4 children, to leave home and emigrate into Pennsylvania. and be regpectfnlly requests an attested Certificate in regard to his honorable name and good conduct; which request is hereby and without hesitation granted; and now; In the name of the High and Free Baronial Domain of Benning and by virtue of my power, we hereby certify. that the said Philip Friderick Eicbe'berger faimily have always conducted themselves obedient, honest, industrious, true and honorable, and if the times and occasion would permit it, should have liked to have him remain in our midst as an upright citizen. We therefore recommend him and his family to the grace and good will of everybody.

In testomony of this Cirtificate of the High and Free Baronial Domain of Benning, have I signed the same with my own hand, and corroborated the same by affixing the seal which has been graciously entrusted to me.

So done at Ittlingen, May 11th, 1728.
