Philippe Minnaar (a1b1) kom saam met sy ouers as Franse vlugtelinge op die skip "Berg China" in 1688 in Suid Afrika aan.

Hy was toe 6 jaar oud.

Hy is die enigste kind van Jean Mesnard en Louise Carbonne wat 'n nageslag nagelaat het.

Werk in 1707 by die weduwee Taillefert.

Meinard Family in Boucher

The largest party to register for a passage on the Berg China was that of the Meinard (Mesnard) family: Jean Meinard, his wife Louise Courbonne, her mother-in-law Marie Anthouarde, a widow of sixty-four, and six small children,

• and a baby Andre, aged five months. The sailing list of 1687 gives Jean’s age as twenty-eight and that of his wife as thirty. If the husband’s age is correctly stated he married at an unusually young age. Of this considerable family group all but Jean Meinard the father and two of his children, one of them Philippe, had died by 1690.

When Philippe Minnaar was born about 1682, in Saint-Martin-de-la-Brasque, Vaucluse, Provence, France, his father, Jean Mesnard, was 23 and his mother, Louise Corbonne, was 25. He married Jeanne Mouy on 8 May 1712, in Stellenbosch, Cape of Good Hope, South Africa. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 4 daughters. He died in 1751, in Cape of Good Hope, South Africa, at the age of 69.
