About Phillip Crommett

1. PHILIP1 CROMMETT. He married MARGARET.

Notes for PHILIP CROMMETT:

According to the book "History of Durham" (New Hampshire), Philip bought land at Sandy Bank from Hugh Dunn; this land was above Hook Island Falls, in Lee. He ran a ferry at Lampril River in 1671. In 1673, he had a grant of six acres adjoining his land at Lampril River.

Children of PHILIP CROMMETT and MARGARET are:

  • 2. i. JOHN2 CROMMETT.
  • ii. JEREHIAH CROMMETT, d. 1712. Notes for JEREHIAH CROMMETT: Jeremiah had the misfortune of being killed and scalped by Indians!
  • iii. SARAH CROMMETT, m. THOMAS FOOTMAN, December 18, 1691.
  • iv. MARY CROMMETT, m. CORNELIUS DRISCO.

"There seems to have been a name change from Cromwell to Crommett (or Crummett) by John Cromwell, a soldier in the Continental Army during the revolution; for what reason, I don't know. And I don't even have proof of this, just rumor."
