Her death was announced in the Brisbane Courier of Tuesday 6 October, as having taken place 'on Saturday last' at Fairseat, Auchenflower. She was her father's eldest daughter. She was described as a British-Australian matron with a lovable personality, someone who did what she could for others. For those who wanted practical help or wise counsel, her shrewd common sense and generous kindly nature never failed. She passed away peacefully among her relatives after long months of patient suffering. She was survived by her husband, two sons and three daughters, all married, and several grandchildren. There was a private burial at Toowong Cemetery.
