The Peeks had the farm adjacent to the Mabie's. Using the Dutch form, Pieter's first son would be named Jan after his father, and Pieters after himself15,16

MEBIE, PIETER, eldest son of Jan, and Susanna, dau. of Arent Vedder, both of the Woestyne, m. Nov. 12, 1721. He settled on the north side of the Mohawk River, on "Arent Mebie's kil," just north of the stone bridge on the New York Central railroad.
