Town about 29 km south of the Orange River, 29 km south-south-west of Philippolis and 51 km north of Noupoort. Founded in 1830 on an abandoned station of the London Missionary Society, it was named after Sir Galbraith Lowry Cole (1772-1842) WIKI. It was first named Toverberg, after a nearby hill, but subsequently renamed. Municipal status was attained in 1840.
