While his son Bernard Reif appears in records for Uhersky-Ostroh, they start only in 1784 and show, for their early years, only fathers' and mothers' first names. Surnames were not present yet. Their use was mandated by Emperor Joseph II in about 1787 and they start to show up consistently in Uhersky-Ostroh records by about 1790. See Project Page on Jewish Families from Uhersky Ostroh.
While Bernard Reif is listed among Uhersky-Ostroh Familiants as being from that town (a link is on Bernard's Profile Page), it is impossible so far to tell whether his father was from there, or who he may have been, since records of the town's Jewish residents from the 1720s-1750s show only double-first-name combinations for the men (with a man's second name generally indicating what his father's first name was). The early 18th-century records are viewable off the Project Page on Jewish Families from Uhersky Ostroh, via "Project Discussions" and "Project Photos."
It is unlikely we will ever have concrete information on who Bernard's parents were.
