About Pleasant A. Lee

This is a note from "Dan" on Geni.com in answer to my post asking for stories to share.

Pleasant Emmet Lee was born 4 Sept 1890 in Gaston,Washington,Oregon. He married Dorothy(Aurora Borealis) Clifford on 22 Nov 1913.

Dorothy was born on 12 June 1894 in St Louis Missouri to James Clifford and mother is unknown. James Clifford came over from Sweden, and jumped ship at port and changed his name to Clifford, previous name unknown.

Pleasant and Dorothy had two children. Patty, Jess and I know of a half sister Lenora. Patty and Jess are still living in Eugene, Oregon. Patty is 95 and Jess 94. Jess and his wife had six children, Laura, Loraine, Linda, Robin, Richard, Ron. Spread all along the west coast from California, Oregon and Washington.

I shared with my father the information I found on your site. He remembers his dad talking about Leslie and Everett.

In Leslie’s picture, you can see a resemblance of him and Jess.

I am going to call my grandmother and see of any stories from the Pleasant Household. From what I can remember are stories my grandfather would tell of his grandparents.

How James G. Lee had his fight with the bear, and he scars he had from that encounter, hiding in the barrel/box crossing the plains when the Indians would come after the wagon train.

He also recounted how strong Elizabeth Zeigler was and could easily lift a 100lb bag of wheat. He said she sure could be mean with a greenstick! I dont know if you have heard any of these stories, if not I recite them in fuller detail, Im sure you have more stories.

This fall, I am planning a trip to visit my grandparents in Oregon to glean what I can from them. My grandma is sound of mind still, grandpa is in a nursing home, not quite there but he loves to tell stories so hopefully he can still remember some. I would love to see the book you have put together, whether by email or CD, a small cost would not be a problem.

If there is anything that doesn't seem clear or anything I can do, let me know. Thanks Dan
