Polly Biddix (McKinney)

Mary "Polly" McKInney daugheter of Charles McKinney and Peggy Lowery, born ca. 1820, McKinney Gap, North Cove District, Burke County (now McDowell Co.) North Carolina.

Although no one had give me the name of Mary at the time I copied the 1850-60 census I was sure that there was a McKinney connection in her family by the names of the children. I am indebted to Mrs. Lillian Hollifield for giving me her name, she had married a Biddix and the names of two of her children. With her information and the two census records I was able to find ten children for her and the complete name of her husband. Mary married Francis Biddix, who was born. 1818 in North Carolina. I don't have any other information on Mary's family that is definite, but would appreciate hearing from any and all of her decendants, or anyone that could give me more about her family. I have two or three marriages that could fit her family but since there were so many Biddix' in the area they could belong to another family.

In 1850 Francis and Mary lived two families away from Sally Hobson and three families away from Henry and Sarah McKinney in the Grassy Creek section of Yancy County which is now Mitchell County. 1860 she was living in McDowell County next to her mother Peggy and brother Joseph and his wife Mary who had been a Biddix before marriage. I am looking forward to receiving more information about the decendants of Mary and Francis Biddix.
