NOTE: The NC 58th, 29th &37th Reg. were in the Big Gap, Tn. area at this time in history. The NC 58th Reg. was the largest reg fielded by NC during the Civil War.
Thomas McKinney Pvt. Co.A NC 58th Reg. resided in Mitchell Co or McDowell Co and was by occupation a farmer prior to enlisting at Mitchell Co. at age 28: 07-16-1862. Reported present in Jan-Feb 1863, died at Big Creek Gap,Tn. March,1863 of fever.

Thomas McKinney (1834-1863) was a son of Charles Ephraim McKinney & Nancy Triplett.
Spouse: Nancy Hoppes b:1832 d:1917. Married on 10-10-1857. She stayed with her Mother In-Law Nancy Triplett after his death. Nancy Hoppes parents were John Hoppes 1820-1889, and Sarah Sullivan .
Burial in DeLap Cemetery, Jacksboro, Campbell County, TN.
One note of interest: The Campbell Co. Tn. Confederate Grave Yard was found of forgotten soldiers. In Dec. 2002 by a woman named Leda Cornett from NC., relocated the Delap Cem records showing 50 men died while camped in the Jacksboro,Tn. area. The cemetery was cleaned up by county prisoners, and markers put up by Bob Andreas County Veteran's service officer.
