About Prince Boris Vasilievich Golitsyn

Biography Prince Boris Golitsyn was born in 1705 to Prince Vasily Borisovich Golitsyn (1681-1710) and Princess Anna Alexseevna, nee Rzhevskaya (1680-1705) In 1718, Boris began service in the Imperial NAvy as a midshipman and a few years later was promoted to warrant officer. According to the historian Prince MM Shcherbatov, BV Golitsyn "had some occasion at the court" , which may have contributed to his career. He became chief-sechmeister in1746 & in 1755: Vice Admiral &General-Kriegscommander of the Russian Imperial fleet. At one time, Boris Golitsyn was also Chief Artillery Commander Feldtsikhmeister General (later this post became the exclusive prerogative of members of the imperial family). On April 30, 1762, Prince Boris Vasilyevich Golitsyn retired for health reasons with the rank of full Admiral In 1767, the Prince was elected a deputy from the Council of Nobles of the Kaluga & Medynsky districts of the Moscow province to the Commission of Jurisprudence in drafting a new coda of laws for Russia.
