About Prince Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud

Prince Faisal Bin Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz (1945 – August 21, 1999) was the eldest son of Fahd of Saudi Arabia. He served as Minister of Labor and Minister of Youth, and was president or chairman of many bodies relating to sport. He studied at the University of California at Santa Barbara, graduating in 1971. In that year, he became Chairman of the Saudi Football Federation. He became Chairman of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee in 1975, and Chairman of the Arab Games Federation in 1976. He became a member of the International Olympic Committee in 1984. He was also president of the Arabian Football Union, Arab Football Union, and head of the National Committee on Drugs Control. He also served internationally as president of the International Swimming Association. In1981 he chaired the Sports Federation for Islamic Solidarity, and in 1982, the International Committee for the Preservation of the Legacy of Islamic Civilization. Since 1979 he had chaired the Kingdom's Supreme Committee for the Merit in Literature Prize. In 1984, he joined the International Olympic Committee. He had been Chairman of the Saudi Arabian Society for Youth Hostels since 1973, and since 1984, had chaired the National Anti-Drug Committee. In 1992, he became Chairman of the Saudi Federation of Sports for the Disabled. He died of a heart attack in King Faisal Specialist Hospital, Riyadh, aged 54, shortly after returning from the Pan Arab Games in Jordan. He was survived by two sons, Prince Nawaf and Prince Khalid, and three daughters.
