Biography

Christopher Sargent was born on August 4, 1704, in Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts, the son of Thomas and Mary Sargent.[2][3] He married Susanna Peaslee in 1729.[7] He was ordained as minister of the first church in Methuen later the same year.[8] He served in this position with this parish for 50 years.[9] Christopher was the first pastor of the Methuen Church. He was a Harvard Graduate.

He was a private in a militia under the command of Capt. Caleb Pilsberry, who marched from Medford to Cambridge, Mass., on April 19 and 20, 1775. He served for 4 days.[10] He would have been nearly 71 years old at that time. He died in 1790 and is buried in Methuen.[11] He died on March 23, 1790, in Methuen, Essex County, Massachusetts, at age 86.[4][5] He is buried in Meeting House Hill Cemetery in Methuen, Essex County, Massachusetts.[6]
