Child of the first marriage, to Mary:[100]

  1. JAMES3 RIGGS, born 15 Sept. 1742, Rock Creek, Prince George’s Co., Md., married MARY JOHNSON, and had at least four Children of the second marriage, to Ruth (the first four in will or- der):[101]
  2. ELIZABETH3 RIGGS, married THOMAS LEECH [LEACH].[ 102]
  3. VIRLINDA/VERLENDER3 RIGGS, married 13 Nov. 1781, Montgomery Co., Md.,[103] JOHN CLAYTON [perhaps CATON].
  4. GREENBERRY3 RIGGS, born 7 Oct. 1757, married ANN HARDY, and had 10 children.
  5. JOHN SUMMERS3 RIGGS, born 5 Oct. 1760, Prince George’s Parish, Prince George’s Co., Md.[104]
  6. EDMOND3 RIGGS, presumably not of age at the time of his father’s 1783 will, since not explicitly mentioned, so born after about 1762. “Edmond Riggs Junr,” as administrator, acknowledged the inventory of his Edmond’s estate in 1798. He married 23 May 1799, St. Peter’s Parish, Montgomery Co., Md.,[105] JANE WILLSON, daughter of Robert Willson.
  7. SAMUEL3 RIGGS, born 20 Jan. 1765, Prince George’s Parish, Prince George’s Co., Md.[106] He is not mentioned in Edmond’s will, presumably because he was underage. JBR has for him, “said to have moved to Kentucky.”
  8. ROSEWELL3 RIGGS, presumably not of age at the time of his/her father’s 1783 will, since not explicitly mentioned, so born after about 1762. I have found no evidence of this person.
