member of North Carolina militia during the American Revolution
He enlisted in the North Carolina troops in 1779, serving six months with Capt. John Hardy and Col. Joseph McDowell. He served again in 1780 for six months with Col. William Campbell and again in 1781 for the same time with Capt. William Neal and Col. Campbell. He was in the battles of Ramsour's Mill, King's Mountain, Cowpens and Guildford Court House. He came to Crawford county and died there in Palestine township. He was pensioned.
