Horvat, Pavle Croatian biographical lexicon PROFESSIONS: NATURE AND TECHNIQUE GEODESY Horvat, Pavle Horvat, Pavle, Croatian surveyor and builder (Zemun, 15 September 1879 - Zagreb, 5 November 1936). He graduated in 1902 from the Technical College in Vienna, then worked in Bosnia and Zemun. From 1911 he taught at the Forestry Academy in Zagreb, which he headed in 1912–13. and 1915–16. He was one of the first teachers at the Technical College in Zagreb (1919), where he founded the Department of Geodesy and Engineering and the Geodetic Authority, as a full professor introduced the 8-semester study of geodesy and was the first dean of the Department of Architecture, Civil Engineering, Cultural Engineering and the Department of Chemical Engineering and the Geodetic and Trade Course 1919–20. As a technical supervisor of land consolidation works, he is also responsible for the development of agricultural operations in Croatia. Citation: Horvat, Pavle.
