I am also looking for ancestors of Thomas Whitten. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone with information on him, ancestors or descendants. The data I have on him so far is:

Thomas(1) WHITTEN (Thomas1718), b. say 1720 (alt. b. abt 1718 or abt 1719 (LDS)) in Scarborough, ME, still living in Scarborough, Me., 1790, when he was enumerated there with a male under 16 and a female, probably his wife; m. before 1744 MARGARET MCROY.[1], b. abt 1723 There are no land records for Thomas Whitten either in York or Cumberland Co. However, as early as 1744 there is a record of the death of a child of Thomas Whitten in Scarborough.[2] The next year Margaret Whitten owned the covenant of the Second Church, 7 Apr 1745 and with her husband was accepted into full communion 9 June 1745.[3] The history of the Whittens with the Second Church was not always pleasant. "The Church was stayed [5 June 1763] after publick service & a Censure was passed on Tho. Whitten & Margaret his Wife for their disorderly walk & they suspended from Fellowship with the Church in Special Ordinances."[4] He was a Revolutionary War soldier, serving in Captain Rice's Co. in the 31st Regiment of Foot soldiers with two sons, Thomas and John.[5]
