About Pte. Edward John McGrath

Edward John McGrath was born in Wellington, New Zealand, in 1919. His parents were Daniel Edward McGrath and Kathleen Mary Ellen McGrath (nee Nyhane) who married in 1914. Edward worked as a compositor until he joined the 25th New Zealand Infantry Brigade [Service No. WWII 35426], Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force during World War II. He was killed in action on 26 November 1941 in the Western Desert, North Africa and is remembered Column 103 of the Alamein Memorial in El Alamein, Maṭrūḥ, Egypt.
