About Pvt. Lewis S. Akins

    Lewis Akins served as a Private in Company I, 9th Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Army of Northern Virginia, C. S. A. - a company from Bulloch County known as the "Toombs Guards." He enlisted on June 10, 1861.

At the 2nd Battle of Manasses, he was wounded in the thigh on August 30, 1862. He died from his wounds in the hospital at Warrenton, VA, October 24, 1862, and was buried in Warrenton.
