He was the son of Samuel Hubbard and Lucy Davis. He married Lucy Wheeler. Samuel was a veteran of the Revolutionary War. Service: Samuel Hubbard, while a resident of Holden, Worcester Co.Mass., enlisted some time in May, 1781 and served as a private in Capt. James Tisdale's Co., of Col. John Greatton's Third Massachusetts Regiment. Was at the siege and battle of Yorktown, and was discharged in June 1783. It is stated that when he enlisted he was called "Samuel the 3rd."Veterans Administration, Washington, D.C., S.C. 45398
