Joined the Confederate Army in Navarro County, Texas. Was in Co.I as a Private. Part of the group known as the Navarro Rifles. Stationed at Dumfries,Virginia in November,1861. The Texas brigade was assailed with sickness; common in the Civil War units. In October,1861, more than 400 men were sick. T A had Typhoid Fever.
