William W. Briggs enlisted for 3 years in Company H of the Fourth Michigan Volunteer Infantry on February 20, 1862, at Adrian, Michigan. He mustered into Federal service the same day. He was discharged from service at Fort Hamilton, New York, on October 28, 1862.
