I have checked the DAR database and found that William Thompson is listed as Ancestor # A114620. He was born in 1739, in St Mary's County, MD. and served in Maryland as a Private. He died on 7-9-1840, in Fayette Nelson Co, Kentucky. According to the records at the Old St. Joseph Cemetery in Bardstown, KY, a William Thompson with the same birth and death dates is buried there, and according to the Find-a-Grave web site, the grave markers have been removed for easy maintenance. This could be the same William Thompson, but I think that more info is needed for verification.

Nelson Co Ky Will Book 3, Pg 107 27 April 1835. Will of William Thompson, deceased. All debts to be paid with residue of property to be equally divided except as follows: To Allie Settle; a negro girl named Delia, bridle and saddle, 1 bed and wheel [?] Ignatius Thompson's children Thomas W Thompson's children Bartholomew Thompson's children Nancy Settle who is now living Bartholomew Thompson's children to have $40.00 more than an equal part. He has suit against Jane Thompson as executor of Thomas W Thompson for $200.00 paid as security, but it is understood that this suit is dismissed. I appoint Joseph Shircliff as my executor Witness: Charles Botts and Joseph Shircliff. Probated: 13 July 1840
