About Quashawam, Sunksquaw of Shinnecock
She became Chief of the Shinnecock Indians after death of her brother, Nowedonah, about 1667.
Wyandanch & Wuch-I-kit-tau-but had a daughter Quashawam she married the Pequot Sachem Mau-gau-wan-met see Uncas geneology,in which he mentions that Maugauwanmet has married only remaining royal blood of long Island.

"When John Elit translated the Bible for the New England Indians hisinterpreter was Cockenoe de Long Island, a Montauk Indian. Cockenoe's wife was Quashawam, the Sunk Squaw, or head of the Shinnecock tribe and the daughter (or sister) of Wyandanch, the Great Montauk chief."
She was one of the fourteen Indian women taken into captivity by Ninigret, Chief of the Narragansetts and afterwards ransomed through the good offices of Lion Gardiner.
