Quintin (52), a former jockey, was stabbed in his chest and fell through a shop window, and died instantly, when four youth's attacked him and his girlfriend, Debra Fleisman (42), while they were walking home from the Pub & Grub restaurant in Newton Park around 22:30 on 5th October 2006. Debra was unharmed, Quintin died at the scene.

- The youths appeared in court on 6th October, and were denied bail. The State provided legal aid to the children while police searched for their parents.
- Spokesperson superintendent Johann van Greunen said, "In some cases children who were found guilty of such crimes would be sentenced to about two years in a juvenile facility. Or they would be sentenced and retried when they were 18 before serving time in jail."
- Police officer, Gerald Kota, who is involved in the rehabilitation of street children said that street children are becoming entangled with "drug lords" who use them to break into homes and even encourage them to kill.
