ARON SCHREIBER, aka ARON CHARSAP, aka CHASAN RABBI SALMANN PRODLITZ, aka ARON POLLAK, b. 1733/34, son of Ascher and Sara Schreiber; d. 21 Mar 1804, age 70.
English Translation: “For this, too, was provided so far, and Talmud-Torah and Beth-Hamidrash enjoyed the special interest of the parishioners' representatives. Especially the latter institution, which formed a kind of state in the state. But in the year 1797, their chiefs demanded that the church determine two deputies who had to supervise the administration of the association's board, since the building had become dilapidated and the intention was to carry out a general gathering in the community. The emissaries of the community should form a sort of supervisory authority, without which no expenditure should be made. The two deputies of the headmaster, Jakob Brull and Aaron Charsap, were dispatched to the municipality.”
“Geschichte Der Juden In Prossnitz”, by Dr. Leopold Goldschmied, Prossnitz, footnote, p. 503: “Aron Charsap = Chasan Rabbi Salmann Prodlitz, auch Pollak, war Aron Schreiber, der 1804 im Alter von 70 Jahren starb”, which translated to English means: “Aron Charsap = Chasan Rabbi Salmann Prodlitz, also Pollak, was Aron Schreiber, who died in 1804 at the age of 70 years.”
Rabbi Aron Schreiber's wife, Sara Schreiber, d. household #23, 18 Feb 1810, age 80.
