Vienna, Vienna, Austria
Descendant of Rabbi Avigdor Kara.
IMPORTANT : R' Avigdor Caro (Karo) of Vienna is NOT to be confused with his much earlier namesake R' Avigdor Caro (Karo) of Prague

Sefer Toledot Ve-Niflaot Maharal (The Book of History and Wonders of the Maharal), by Meir Perles (Bilgoraj, 1911), has a footnote to the genealogy of Judah Loew, the Elder, of Prague (died in 1440), the great-great-grandfather of the MaHaRaL of Prague (Judah Loew, ben Bezalel, 1525–1609). It says: “The son of Judah's sister was the gaon (religious authority), Avigdor Karo ABD (av bet din, i.e., chief judge), Prague, uncle of Joseph Karo, author of Beit Yosef (Joseph's House) (of which Shulchan Aruch was an abbreviated version), and father of the gaon Judah Karo ABD Glogau, father of the gaon Joseph Karo who was ABD in 20 communities....” [http://www.hebrewbooks.org/pdfpager.aspx?req=29088&st=&pgnum=19&hil...]
Since Judah Karo ABD Glogau was actually the son of Avigdor Karo of Vienna, rather than Avigdor Karo ABD Prague, it is possible that this passage confused R. Avigdor Karo of Vienna with his more famous ancestor R. Avigdor ABD of Prague (son of R. Yitzchak Karo).
According to Mishpachot Atikot Beyisrael he was from Brody.
