His father was R. Elijah Mordecai ha-Kohen Maza (1896-1954)
born in Smolevichi, Russia and came to the United States in 1926 from Minsk.
An erudite scholar and gifted speaker he wrote and published many works in Hebrew and Yiddish dealing with the moral and ethical problems of American Jewry.
