Newspaper clippings put him in various synagogues around the USA between 1922 and 1950. This writer (Alan BARASCH) visited Nathan in Harrisonburg, VA during the summer of 1958. At that time, Nathan was living with his last wife, Hattie. They were divorced shortly after that visit.
Some of these assignments were Temple Beth-El, Los Angles, CA; Jamestown, NY; Sedalia, MO; Shreveport, LA; Baton Rouge, LA, Bayonne, Hudson, NJ, Florence, AL 1922-23 (he married his first wife, Agnes OLIM in Florence); Selma, Dallas County, AL, USA c.1950; Pilgrim State Mental Hospital c. 1959; Bayonne, Hudson, NJ 1920; and military: Canal Zone, Fort Sill, OK; and Fort Benjamin Harrison, IN.
The story was that he had 2 years of sermons and by that time, his congregation was glad to see him go and he was glad to be shut of them. He was a card player and apparently won too often. His papers/scrapbooks (lost in house fire 1997) contained articles he had written for a bridge magazine.
My father (Stanley) related a story of meeting his father at the train in about 1937 and being introduced to his wife, a Mrs. Ball. 2020: Found Sarah Rosenberg Ball who was listed in 1940 census as "Mrs. Nathan Barasch"
