Dear Ms Kaufman, Dear Hungarian SIG,
many heartfelt thanks for your recent posting of Hebrew gravestones at Spisske podhradie.

You have helped me clear up a problem with my family tree. You have provided conclusive evidence that Rabbi Singer's wife was a greatgranddaughter of Shemen Rokeach and not his granddaughter (as one source seemed to indicate).

You have also opened up new vistas: Peterfreunds in Spisske. They too, I believe, were Galicians who came over the mountains. They are related to my Weinfeld family, which also straddled the border.

Perhaps I missed the prehistory of this posting. Were you, Ms Kaufman, there? Did you transcribe or take pictures of all these graves? Are there birth and death dates to accompany the data you provided? Will there be
more?

Does any one out there know more about the SINGER family?

Rabbi Pesach Singer and Chayu Feigele nee Halevy-Löwy had at least the following children:

1. Abraham Singer , born in V=E1rpalota in 1849 and died in ??? on ... December 1914; rabbi in V=E1rpalota (1873-=8A=8A ??), co-author with brother Benjamin of "Ha-Madrik"
Abraham had at least one son: Leo Singer, b. ??, killed in 1944; Dr phil. ,rabbi in V=E1rpalota
2. Benjamin (Wilhelm) Singer, born in ??, died in ?? (after 1927); rabbi in Lipt=F3szentmiklos, co-author with brother Abraham of "Ha-Madrik"
3. Schlomo Leb Singer, born perhaps in 1858, d. in ??; rabbi in Rimaszombat. Was he the author of "Shai Lamorah" ?
4. Golde Singer, who married Miksa Friedmann and had at least onendaughter Judith Friedmann

Any further info would be most welcome!
Again, many thanks,
Simon Srebrny
