Salomon Haas was born in Prussnitz, a village near Holesov, on 18 Oct 1795, the only child of Joseph Kaufmann Haas (c1763-1829) and his wife, Fegela (Husserl) Haas (b. c1769). He was a scholar and rabbi, and was appointed early in life to the Holesov bet ha-midrash (founded in 1808).
He was the author of “Kerem Shelomoh” and was rabbi at Strassnitz for many years. He died in Strassnitz on 27 June 1847. Following his death, his widow Sara (née Knöpfelmacher) returned to Holesov, and m. 2nd, c1851, widower Isak Beer Weinreb (1791-1855). She was still alive in 1880.
No children are seen born to Rabbi Salomon and Sara (Knöpfelmacher) Haas.
