About Rabbi Yisrael Hillel Westreich ABD Grybow
Av Beit Din (Chief Rabbi) of Grybow. R. Yisrael Hillel studied under Rabbi Zvi Hirsch "Charif" Heller, A.B.D. Alt-Oben and R' Aryey Leibish Lipschutz, (ABD Krzeszow, Vishnitsa and Brzesko (Brigel). He was also a student of the Rabbi Klonimus Kalman Halevi Epstein, Ma'or Vashemesh and assisted in publishing the first edition of the latter's famous work the Maor Vashemesh in 1842. He was a close friend of Admor Chaim Halberstam, [Divrei Chaim, of Sanz] and as youths they went together to see R' Naftali Zvi Horowitz, Admor Ropczyce.
Acc. to death records R' Yisrael Hillel was the son-in-law of R. Shaul Frankel-Teomim of Siennawa from the rabbinical Frankel-Teomim family. R' Yisrael Hillel was a brother-in-law of Yosef Segel-Lichtig HaLevi (descendant of Rabbi David Halevi Segal, the "Turei Zahav" (Taz)), but it is unknown how.
R' Yisrael Hillel passed away in Rimanov on the 2nd of Sivan 1846 and was buried near the Ohel of R. Mendele Rimanover.
