BASIC INFO: Rachel (Allen) Allen(1658-1731)was born as Rachel Allen in Dartmouth, Bristol, Mass. She was the daughter of Hope Allen (1625-1677) and his wife Rachel (Knight) Allen (1626-1667).

In 1687, in Dartmouth, Bristol, Massachusetts, Rachel married Increase Allen (1660-1723). Rachel Allen died on 10 April 1731 in Dartmouth, Bristol, Massachusetts. CHILD: Elizabeth Allen (1704-1796).

BURIAL: Rachel was a Quaker. At the time of her death in Dartmouth, the only Quaker cemetery was the Friends Burial Ground. No stone has been found, possibly because it was an early Quaker custom not to mark the graves.

Biography

Susanna was a Friend (Quaker)
Susanna was born 4d 12m 1689 [4 Feb 1690] in Dartmouth.[1] She was the daughter of Increase and Rachel Allen.[1]

On 20d 6m 1711 [20 Aug 1711], she was disowned by the Dartmouth monthly meeting for being with child while not married.[2] The condemnation is as follows:[2]

To all people to whom this may come for the clearing of the truth

where as Susannah Allen daughter of Increase Allen of Dartmouth not with standing she was educated amongst friends yet not harkening ye Spirit of God in her own heart nor advice of her parents and friends but giving way to ye enemy and her own lusts is with Child as her self acknowledgeth
these may signify we have no unity therewith but Do utterly abhor and testify against all such ungodly actions and the Spirit that Leads there unto and disown her for ye same but desire ye Lord may Give her a Sense of ye Evil of her doings and hearty Sorrow and repentance and forgiveness for ye same
