Notes for JOSEPH HANKINSON:
He owned a lot of property. On March 1, 1770, he bought a tract of 726 acres in Sussex county lying between Stillwater and Middleville. He divided this land into two equal parts and placed his son Aaron on the half nearer Stillwater, and William on the part nearer Middleville. The father in his will dated 1783 gave to each son the farm the son lived on. Aaron's, just north of Stillwater, became known later as the Rosenkrans farm; and William's became known as Butler's Mill.
The info for her line came from the 'Pioneer Families of Northwestern New Jersery', by William C. Armstrong, page 43 etc.
