About Rachel Platts
Rachel was the daughter of Jacob and first wife, Elizabeth b. 1690 in Sweden per Dr Sheppard's book. But found it interesting that my Grandmom's 2nd or 3rd cousin, Rev. Howard Cassaday (Meth Minister-who had done histories on all the churches where he preached), sent me a pamphlet he had done on Friendship Methodist in Buena Vista. Apparently, a group of farmers went down to the pine barrens every winter to make pitch as a cash crop and while there founded the Church, these men included my 5GGF John Smith, his d-i-l's brother, Joel Stewart, The Veals and Platts and many of the Friendship Meth members from Harrisonville or Monroeville where lots of my ancestors are buried. But once again proves how interconnected all the South Jersey Farmers are!!!
