Ragnar Andersen

Ragnar lost his father far too early - only 11 years old. Early he had to take responsibility for himself in the tough thirties. He had to start quite early working, earning his own money and support his mother. He worked on different farms in Modum. His main job was responsible for the roads in Modum. He never had a driving license, but moved around in Modum on his bicycle. He met Elbjørg occasionaly when she (Elbjørg had started working in Modum as a nurse, but came from Stamsund in lofoten) asked him about an address in Vikersund. They immediately felt in love and married later on. Ragnar was a fulltime worker on Modum's road network until he turned 58, and got ill. He built their wooden family house in Vikersund, close to the brigde at Tangen. Ragnar was a respectable family man taking care of his wife and 3 daughters. Ragnar had a good sense of humor and loved every day of his life, also after he got sick. Ragnar died a forthnight after he turned 88.
