About Ralph Frederic Waning
Ralph designed the dam and 3 acre pond for my father Delbert Crosby on the Albion road in Benton,
Vassalboro – Ralph F. Waning, 81, died Friday November 8, 1991, while hunting in Unity. He was born in Troy, September 24, 1910, a son of John and A. Faustina Whitaker Waning. He graduated from Unity High School in 1928. In 1946, he married the former Lois Warren.
He was employed by the Soil and Conservation Service for 26 years, retiring in 1971. He served as supervisor and later as associate supervisor for the Kennebec County Soil and Water Conservation District.
He was a charter member of the Church of Christ in Augusta and served on the board of directors of Ganderbrook Christian Camp in Raymond.
He was currently serving on the Vassalboro Comprehensive Planning Commission and had served as scoutmaster and committee man for the Boy Scouts. He was also active in the Vassalboro Credit Union.
He is survived by his wife of Vassalboro; two daughters, Jeannette A. Kittrell of Worcester, Mass., and Ellen W. Tompkins of Waterville; a sister, Evelyn Whitney of Topsham; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Blessed Hope Advent Christian Church, Waterville. Burial will be in the Fowler Cemetery, Unity.
